- For our location, we want to use a theatre as this will be the right mise-en-scene for our initial idea. A few rows of seating will be filled up with people to give the illusion that the seating is filled with people when the shot we are thinking of producing is a mid shot.
- Another location idea for the theatre is a drama studio. This will be a more intimate venue and therefore more applicable to our idea of the actress playing the part of supporting roles as this reflects this idea from the small venue. It might be more easier to manage as the amount of seating will be smaller so not as many extras will be required to make the seating seem full.
- For the shots where the actress is improving her skills before the final performance where she is auditioning or in workshops, we were thinking of a hall with light wood floors as the is the typical practice rooms that you see for theatre groups. This will give a more authentic feel to the piece rather than in a person's house.
- For the lip sync, we were thinking of having a plain white wall, but with posters of previous shows and films she has been in. We could also add newspaper clippings of reviews of these shows she has been in also. This reflects the idea that she is not happy with these supporting roles and is trying to break from them, as it will be shown by her ripping these posters down.
Lighting
- As most of our shots are going to be inside, we will be using artifical lighting, especially in the drama studio/theatre. This will give a very high quality professional looking setting for the shots and help to make the actress appear more glamorous. We can use coloured filters to give different effects, for example a blue light could give a dull mood and red could represent anger or love.
- For the shots by the white wall which will more than likely be inside a house, we will be using a mixture of natural lighting from nearby windows and artificial lighting to make sure it is even and that no shadows are covering the actresses face as this will give the wrong feel to the piece. It will also be able to edit the lighting effects in post production if lighting is even throughout.
This is a great location, I assume you will be using the lighting rig.
