- By being able to create and manipulate multiple layers and to adapt them with tools, such as the clone stamp tool and the magic wand tool, you can create a piece of print work that is original and creative.
What are the challenges?
- One challenge I encountered was differences in colouring/exposure/contrast when using multiple images. I overcame this problem by adapting the levels of each photo to try and create a more conforming visual.
Techniques:
- Using the magic wand tool and magnetic lasso tool to cut out the singers from the original photos.
- Adapting the opacity of the background layers and title text to create the wood grain look.
- Using the eraser tool on a low opacity and feathered shape to create a soft edge to the photographs.
- Adding text and multiple layers.
- Adapting colouring, brightness and contrast of the images.
How successful was the finished product?
- I feel that the finished product was successful, especially considering that I hadn't used photoshop before.
- However, there are still some aspects of the finished product that I am not entirely happy with, including the colouring of the photos and the sheet music layer.
- Despite this, I feel that the overall layout is a is a strength of the product, successfully communicating the deatails and acts of the festival.
Moving on to print prodution for the digipack and and advert, what advice would you give yourself?
- Experiment with adjustment layers to create colouring.
- Use large, high quality and original photos.
